- I have a problem with uploading on my modem - it seizes up the computer
- until its done.
-
- Symptoms: I can download at 2400 baud and experience no hit on the
- system. But when I try to upload the mouse pointer freezes, and all
- I can do is wait until the file transfer is complete. I've tried
- several communications programs. I've even done a 'COPY a.txt COM1:',
- where a.txt is just a file, and get the same effect.
-
- System: 80386/33 16meg RAM. I have a serial mouse on COM2 and the
- modem is an internal 2400 baud modem on COM1 (16450 UART). I have
- an IDE controller card with serial/parallel ports, but I've disabled
- the unused COM port on this card.
-
- I've run MSD and everything appears to be configured properly (IRQs,
- addresses), so I feel the hardware is setup correctly. I tried a
- different internal modem but got the same results.
-
- I dont understand why uploads should cause a problem - there are
- as many interrupts/sec for an upload as there are for a download.
-
- I have the service pack installed, although I had this problem before
- loading the service pack.
-
- I'd appreciate any advice on how to isolate the problem. Otherwise
- OS/2 is working great.
-
- Thanks
