  25. I have a similar story to yours.  I am very pleased with OS/2 2.0.x!
  26. Now let me share my story with interested readers (if any)...

  30. I installed GA on my system with absolutely no problems.  Except for
  31. the lack of SVGA drivers for my WD90C31, I have had no problems running
  32. GA except when I got some trap when I changed some settings in my
  33. CONFIG.SYS to svga instead of vga.  This happened because OS/2 (released
  34. in March) did not recognize Western Ditigal SVGA adapters with 1MB
  35. (released in the summer).  All I needed was to ftp one replacement file
  36. from ftp-os2 and all was well (except for the lack of SVGA drivers).
  37. I had been running 99.4% pure GA until I got the SP.

  39. I did not have any problems installing the SP (except for the lack
  40. of SVGA drivers).  I have had only three small "buglets" with the
  41. SP (REXX does not recognize some commands like SysCls, Alt-Home does
  42. not switch to Windowed DOS sometimes, and I had to reboot GA floppies
  43. to restore some EAs).  Other than this (and the lack of SVGA drivers),
  44. I have found the SP to be excellent.

  46. Loading Win-OS/2 is *much* faster than before.  The speed of scrolling
  47. in a Windowed session is faster than GA so now I don't use Full Screen
  48. Sessions too much anymore.  I like the new Windowed VIO session fonts
  49. a lot.  The SP is one fast mother forker...

  51. I've never had problems with black icons, bad diskettes, slow scrolling,
  52. mysterious crashes or whatever, with either GA or GA+SP.  If you go to a
  53. hospital, you will only see sick people stay there.  Healthy people don't
  54. need to stay at a hospital.  It is incorrect to assume that all people
  55. are sick just because everyone staying at a hospital is sick.  In the same
  56. way, it is incorrect to assume that all people are having problems with
  57. OS/2 just because you read about some OS/2 problems in an "OS/2 hospital".
  58. This newsgroup (comp.os.os2.misc) is an OS/2 hospital.
