-
- I just recently went through this procedure. It was a rather complicated
- procedure, because of the way they have organized the packaging of the
- disks. Here is what I did:
-
- 1. Copy the HPFS.IFS and UHPFS.DLL files from the SP disks to disk 2 and 3
- of the OS/2 2.0 GA.
-
- 2. Boot up OS/2 2.0 GA and run the install with the first five diskettes
- and let OS/2 reformat all HPFS partitions.
-
- 3. When prompted to remove the Installation diskette and press Enter
- to reboot, I removed the diskette, pressed Enter, and immediately
- inserted the Installation diskette again, to boot from it once more.
-
- 4. When booting is finished (after DISK 2 is inserted), I copy the HPFS.IFS
- file from the floppy to /OS2/INSTALL, and pres Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot
- (without diskette).
-
- 5. I run the installation program, and insert diskette 6-14 (I don't
- remember the numbers exactly). When prompted to remove the diskette
- in the drive and press Enter to reboot, I remove the diskette press
- Enter, and insert the Installation diskette again to boot from it.
-
- 6. I copy the file HPFS.IFS to /OS2 and UHPFS.DLL to /OS2/DLL and reboot
- with CAD.
-
- 7. I let the system boot from hard disk and wait while the system
- builds all object. When the desktop is created, I shutdown and
- reboot to install the service pack.
-
- 8. The service pack install is straight forward.
-
- It seems important to NEVER let the old HPFS and UHPFS to touch the
- new HPFS partitions.
-
- I don't know yet if this works though... I have only run two days after
- re-installing, and have not got the CPS extent not found, but I don't
- this is proof enough (as I only got that error now and then anyhow).
