- Hi all.
-
- Well, I broke down and got an XGA-2 card for my PS/2. My feelings?
- Well, coming from 8-bit VGA...WOW! This thing is damned fast. My
- windowed sessions run about as fast as the full screen ones did with old
- VGA. I have IBM's 8515 monitor, so I'm running at 1024x768x256
- interlated. I can barely tell that its interlaced, usually not at all.
- Also, having more colors is really nice, especially for OS/2.
-
- Qualms: THE INSTALL SUCKS!!!! I spent 2 hours + trying to get the
- thing to work. The copying device drivers bit took 30+ disk swaps since
- I only have one disk drive. Why can't they read more than one file at
- once! The "Automatic Configuration" option of the Reference Disk took 5
- minutes+ with the new card in. God knows why. (it used to be almost
- instant) I've only touched on the 640x480x65,536 mode, because
- resolution is much more important than colors to me.
-
- Also, I thought you got "crystal fonts" or something equivalent
- (anti-aliased lines, etc.) when you ran in high-res lots-o-colors mode,
- and I can't see any anti-aliasing (in other words, I can still see the
- aliasing) Is there something special that I have to do?
-
- All in all I'm very impressed, and glad I got the thing, the price is
- wonderful!!! $270 US Education price. Get one today!!!!
