  10.   This might help anyone who is as worried as I was about installing the
  11. wrong version of the CSD/Service Pack.  I realize the CSD/SP has been
  12. around for a while, but some of us are just now catching up ! . . .

  14.   If you need to determine what version of the CSD/SP you have downloaded,
  15. or are about to download, do the following (but only if you DON'T KNOW
  16. already):

  18. 1) Obtain the first disk of the CSD/SP (if you don't already have it) from
  19.    your favorite ftp site, bbs, friend, or source.  This will probably be
  20.    called spg301.dsk or spg301.zip depending on whether the site has
  21.     zipped the files.  Also obtain the loaddskf.exe program from the
  22.     site.

  24. 2)  Unzip the spg301.zip file if necessary.  Once you have the spg301.dsk
  25.     file, use the loaddskf.exe program to create a 3 1/2" diskette.
  26.     (spg501.zip would be the first disk of a 5 1/4" set.)

  28. 3)  Once the disk has been created, remove it from the drive and open the
  29.     write-protect window to protect the files on the disk.  Insert the
  30.     disk back into the drive.

  32. 4)  Open the Drive A object, then open the root directory folder.  Double-
  33.     click on the file CSF$DISK.  This will open the default editor.  The
  34.     editor will warn that there are null characters in the file.  Continue
  35.     to open the file anyway (this is why write-protecting the disk - in
  36.     case of accident)

  38. 5)  When the file opens you will see the version of the CSD/SP.  If it
  39.     says XR06055 you are all set!!  You can continue to download the
  40.     CSD/SP files from your fav site with assurance that you have the
  41.     correct version!!
