- Well, I hate to say it, but it seems that OS/2 is less stable for me now than
- it was before I applied the Service Pack. It has crashed unexpectedly on me
- quite a few times now, and I've seen a few other weirdnesses.
-
- First the crashes:
- I use ALT-ESC to switch between tasks a lot, usually from a full screen
- seesion back to the WPS. Sometimes, I use ALT-ESC from the WPS, and I think
- this is when I crash (I'm not completely sure if this is always the situation,
- though. In all cases, it is when I am switching sessions). Anyway, it tries
- to switch to a text session, but the screen goes black, and eveything locks
- up (CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't even work...), so I need a hard reboot.
- (I have a diamond speedstar, and am running at 800x600x256 to avoid the
- 1024x768 nuttiness) Any ideas? A friend of mine running OS/2 on his IBM
- model 100 with XGA says he has also experienced many lockups, but I don't
- know if they are due to a similar situation or an unrelated one.
-
- Also, I have seen multicolored garbage characters appear on screen in text
- mode after switching to it from the WPS. There aren't many of them (2-5,
- maybe), and they scroll normally with the rest of the characters when the
- screen scrolls, so they aren't permanent.
-
- My suspicion is that these problems are due to bugginess in the 32-bit GRE.
- Any suggestions?
-
- Thanks,
- -Bryon
