- I found a really nice GIF that I decided to use as my background, so I
- loaded into WinGIF and saved it as a BMP (and converted it from 256 colors
- to 256 grayscale since it looks cooler in B&W...very chic). Anyway,
- ever since installing this thing as my background, my sapfile has
- started growing IMMENSELY. I used to stick around 5120k (under the
- service pack) and it used to shrink down back to 5120 or so if it ever
- grew too far, but if I use the picture as my background, the swapper
- gets up to 13 or 14 megs after a while and there doesn't seem to be
- any reason why...and it doesn't come down.
-
- The BMP file is only 500k long, so I thought at worst, I'd have 500k more
- of memory being thrown around...but it seems like this 500k increases
- EVERY TIME the screen is switched to full screen anything and back again.
- It seems like OS/2 is actually placing multiple copies of the bmp in
- memory and then forgetting to deallocate the space when it is supposed
- to.
-
- Can anyone confirm this, or offer some explanation, or anything?
-
- Thanks for the help...
