- When following the discussion in this group about problems with the
- higher resolutions of the Diamond Speedstar, it is probably not only _my_
- impression that things are getting more confusing every day.
- Some insist on special ways to install the driver, besides running
- selective install after application of the SP. Some insist that
- SVGA should be run in a Dos _window_... Can somebode PLEASE summarize?
- Somebody with authority please (Tim?).
-
- I made the new(?) experience that there is a problem also with the
- 800*600 resolution (which is _not_ mentioned in the IBM readme file).
- So here I go. I installed the SP over a brandnew GA. Then I went to
- selective install (also changed U.K. settings to U.S. settings) and
- installed SVGA. When asked I clicked on 800*600.
-
- I then went to a full screened Dos session, ran the VMODE MONITOR, with
- the settings for the Nanao 9080i (at 800*600 it has 72 Hz vertical
- non-interlaced). Then SVGA ON. Exit and boot.
-
- Guess what? Blank screen instead of the WPS. So I also installed the
- setmode.bat sequence as suggested by IBM, only with VMODE 30 for this
- 800*600 resolution. Now things come up, but the screen is flickering,
- probably interlaced although I have no way of proving.
-
- Please, who really knows?
