- I have reported this as a problem to IBM, as I have switched the drives around
- and I'm prompted for disks in the GA package when I run Selective Install.
-
- People that responded to my previous posting kept telling me to change the CMOS
- settings and all would be fine. WRONG! The CMOS is correct. The problem is
- that the install of GA has to create some sort of data base on the disk so that
- it can refer to the correct disks if Selective Install is run again. The CMOS
- setting doesn't enter into it. I've done diskcopies and formatting since
- switching my drives, and just for the fun of it, I did double check the CMOS
- to make sure I wasn't going crazy.
-
- If IBM simply put out 1 size disk image, i.e., 1.2M, there would not be any
- problems. The disk numbers would be the same for either the 3.5 or the 5.25
- format.
-
- I've asked IBM to put out a patch to this, if it is more complicated than
- copying a file off of the 3.5" disks. This should go into the FAQ.
-
- If I find out anymore, if no one else has a solution (short of re-installing
- the 3.5" version), I'll post whatever I learn. IF SOMEONE HAS ALREADY FIGURED
- OUT WHAT HAS TO BE DONE, PLEASE POST!
-
- Thanks.
