- It seems from the netnews that in systems to which the CSD has been
- applied, the Trident 8900C 800*600*256 driver has serious problems,
- such as transparent backgrounds in notebook tabs, etc. The 800*600*16
- driver is reported as being OK. I have not seen any reports on the
- 1024*768 drivers. I have used the 1024*768*256 driver for months.
- Apart from getting garbage on the screen in full-screen DOS after 2
- Alt-home's if Borland BGI (and I think some other) graphics have been
- running full-screen, and a few minor problems, it's been fine, if
- slow. I am trying to decide whether to install the CSD; if no Trident
- 8900C 1024*768 drivers work, I probably won't until Trident fixes
- these problems (maybe via 32-bit drivers ???). I'd prefer 256-colour
- drivers, but might put up with 16 colours for a while.
-
- I expect that this information would be of interest to many people.
- My apologies in advance if these questions have been answered already,
- and the relevant news items have somehow not made it into our news
- feed (in which case I'd appreciate someone else's summary). If people
- would like to email me with responses, I'll summarise and post them to
- the net; otherwise respond on the net, as suits you. Please include
- information about whether the CSD was `gold' or otherwise, whether the
- Trident card is an 8900C (or whatever), the date stamp on the driver,
- and whether any non-straightforward things are present in the system
- (e.g. Winos2 3.1 on top of CSD).
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
- David. (davidb@tplrd.tpl.oz.au)
