- At some point in the near future, I hope to be able to get the FTP Software
- TCP/IP package for OS/2 via a site-licence. This would make it a lot cheaper
- than the IBM package, even with educational discount. However, IT seems
- that people almost never discuss the FTP package on the net, whereas the
- IBM package is often discussed.
-
- What would be the disadvantages of purchasing the FTP package? I'm interested
- in both intrinsic (e.g. it doesn't have X-Windows - I know this is the case,
- but is it possible to run the IBM X-Windows program over the FTP kernel?)
- and extrinsic (e.g. lots of software, e.g. TRN, runs over IBM, but not
- FTP - is this actually true?)
-
- I'd greatly appreciate any information on the differences between these two,
- and what the main considerations ought to be in choosing between them.
-
- Thanks a lot.
