  13. This item was standardized long time ago.
  14. According to ISO document 2382/I 1974-12-15 an operating system is:
  15.  
  16. "Software for controlling the execution of computer programs and
  17.  that may provide scheduling, debugging, input/output control,
  18.  accounting, compilation, storage allocation, data management,
  19.  and related services "
  20.  
  21. (I fear I have to explain "ISO" here:
  22.  stands for "International Organization for Standardization")
