- Well, I would admit that Word for Windows is not nearly the simpleton that
- WordPerfect for Windows is, but in comparison to many Windows programs, Word
- is not terribly complex (or large).

- NOT!!!

- My fiancee has a 386SL/25 with 2Mb RAM, 80Mb HDD notebook, no coproc, and
- she runs Word for Windows without trouble. She is an attorney, and
- regularly turns out long (10-50 pages) legal documents. She has never
- complained to me about speed ('cept the printer is too slow :-(), and
- I have used the system and have not found any speed problems. She will
- be upgrading to 4Mb only because I need to run software that requires the
- extra memory. I expect she will see some speed improvement, but she is
- not likely to notice the difference.

- I will never understand why some people think that everyone has to have the
- latest, fastest, and greatest computer, even when it's not necessary to
- do the job required, nor will it be necessary for the next several years.
- My father regularly runs his sales business from an old XT with 640K, a
- 30Mb HDD, 1200bps modem, and monochrome monitor. My mother runs her business
- on a 12MHz AT, 1Mb RAM, 40Mb Hdd, 2400bps modem, and EGA monitor. They will
- be upgrading in the near future only because I have finally convinced them
- that their customers will buy more if they have a laptop and can generate
- orders at a customer's site. They are likely to go with a 386SL only
- because that is the most cost-effective solution for their needs. They
- could very well get by with a 286-based notebook, for several years.
- But by then, whatever they buy will be obsolete, so why spend the extra
- money if they don't have to?
