  13. I am having a problem installing vi (visual editor of UNIX)
  14. version of DOS on MS-Windows 3.1. 
  15.  
  16. After I specify the PIF file for it, and I open a file
  17. using vi, I get an error on the command line of the 
  18. file saying " error see documentation - file.a  ..."
  19. I have no file.a anywhere to refer to.

  21. It works fine when I set it in "exclusive" mode and
  22. also saves the contents and edits alright. But sometimes
  23. it pops up this error message on the command line of the
  24. file.

  26. I tried increasing the XMS, EMS and swap file size. It 
  27. didn't help.

  29. Can anybody tell me what the problem could be ?
