- Hi NT gurus:
- I am new in the world of microsoft. I have problem setting up tcp/ip
- networking for our only 486 running NT beta. I have a SMC Elite16
- (8013EPC) with following configuration:
- BASE I/O=300 IRQ=10 RAM add= 0xCC00
- After installing the board and connecting the cable I booted the NT.
- I used the Network control panel to setup the adaptor and install the
- network software. Then I did the binding (TCP/IP-->stream...). I did
- not know what to do with Domain, so I left it alone. Then I configured
- TCP/IP. Assigned IP address and domain name. Again I did not know
- what to do with Scope ID, so did not touch it. Then I opened the host
- file in system\drivers\etc\ and added three lines to the file. One for
- the PC, one for my Sun, and one for our Sun gateway.
- Then I reboot the machine and opened the Service control panel. While
- trying to start Nbt I got "Error 1068: The dependency service or
- group failed to start". Then I tried to start TCP/IP and I got
- "Error 0002: They system can not find the file specified". I tried
- pinging the PC from my Sun, no answer from PC.
- After two days I give up. I have real work to do. Any help would be
- appreciated.
-
- Thanks
