- I am creating some CGM files on a mainframe. I will later import them into
- MicroSoft Word for Windows.
-
- The mainframe program lets me specify the names of the fonts that the CGM
- file will use. If I look at the resulting CGM file, I'll see the font
- names near the beginning.
-
- Here's the odd thing... when I import the resulting files into Word, some CGM
- fonts are converted correctly to Windows fonts, and others aren't. For
- example, Script is converted to Script and TimesRomanBoldItalic is
- converted to Times Roman in bold and italicized.
-
- Most other font names don't convert, however. LetterGothic, WingDings, and
- a whole host of other fonts (including some from MicroSoft) are converted
- to Ariel.
-
- Does anyone know what's going on, or why some fonts might be converted but
- others not? I also tried the generic Windows names, and they all converted
- to Ariel as well, so it doesn't seem to be running the names through the
- Windows font matcher.
