- Sorry if this has already showed up ... problems with posting software :-(
-
- My neighbor is running a video titler (dos) program on a '486 machine
- with 8Mb memory. When trying to load a complex graphic when running
- from under windows, the app complains about not enough memory.
- Running the same app from dos allows these same graphics to load ok.
-
- The docs indicate the app will run on '286 as well as '386/'486
- platforms so I assume it is using expanded memory. Both himem and
- emm386 are loaded. With my limited understanding of dos memory models
- (just 'cause the world ain't flat, doesn't mean memory models
- shouldn't be!) I don't even know if a virtual 8086 machine under
- windows can access expanded memory.
-
- Any help, advice, unsubstantiated rumors, etc are certainly welcome.
