  12. I have an AdLib card installed on my system (I know it's correctly installed--
  13. I've used it many times before).

  15. I'd like to be able to use the Windows 3.1 beeps and boops and other Sounds
  16. located in both the Sounds folder in the Control Panel and in the Sound
  17. Recorder under Applications...
  18.  
  19. I clicked on the Driver's icon under Control Panels, clicked on 'ADD' and
  20. clicked on AdLib, bringing up the 'Insert Windows 3.1 Disk #2 (or #3) into
  21. drive _____' which I promptly did.  It seemed to copy all the necessary files
  22. and the 'Midi Mapper' icon even became available to me under Control Panel.
  23. I then clicked on the Sounds icon in Control Panel, and all the sounds were
  24. shadowed, ie. I could not click on any. The Test option was also shadowed, so I
  25. couldn't click on it.  I then tried entering Sound Recorder under Applications
  26. and it told me that 'Sound Driver is not installed-- go to the Drivers option
  27. under Control Panel and install a Driver'.

  29. BTW, I DID restart Windows before attempting the Sounds icon or before using
  30. the Sound Recorder (or trying to use it, at least).

  34. What is wrong?  How do I enable system sounds (I tried running Sounds and Sound
  35. Recorder with the Enbale System Sounds option X'ed and not X'ed {this option is
  36. also under Sounds} and nothing works)??? My system is as follows if it makes
  37. any difference:

  39. 386DX-40 with 4 Megs Ram
  40. EMM386, NCache (Norton's Disk Cache), Dos 5.0 and an ADLIB CARD
