  13. We are developing an application that uses a DOS based 386sx for
  14. real time online data accessing.  The query information is taken
  15. over the phone and keyed in. 
  16. The response from the mainframe is over a RS485 link. 
  17. The communications protocol being used is HDLC.
  18. We are a bit worried by the slowness of the transaction rate and
  19. were wondering whether DOS is suited for this type of environment.
  20. If anybody has been in a similar situation or can give any handy
  21. hints I would like to hear from them.
