  18. Hi, I might be able to help out a bit. I don't design houses but I am an
  19. estimator. From what I've seen Design Cad would be a good choice on the
  20. commercial side or PC Draft Cad shareware for design. None of these programs
  21. provide much in the way of estimating except for the ability to mark items
  22. which takes more time than doing it manually. In any case you're probably
  23. better off to locate a cheap draftsman working out of his house locally. They
  24. will usually have a good knowledge of what is needed by the local authorities.
  25. Expect to pay about 1% of expected cost at the highest.
  26. On the estimating side I have lots of tips and spreadsheet templates ( Quattro
  27. or Supercalc) that I can share. I make my living by doing framing takeoffs
  28. for the local lumberyards so I kind of know this area. I am in the process of
  29. moving though ( 16th Nov ) but I should be available either here or Email.
