- Ever since I've upgraded to Linux kernel version 0.98pl3 (and now pl4)
- I've been unable to get xdm to work properly. Actually, I'm not sure whether
- this problem lies with xdm or xterm - when I boot the system with xdm enabled,
- everything works fine up to when I attempt to start an xterm. At this point,
- the disk makes noise for a couple of seconds and then absolutely nothing
- happens. Going back over the .xsession-errors files in users' home dirs, they
- contain the error
-
- xterm: Error 14, errno 19: No such device
-
- When I start X from xinit off of a VC, everything works fine.
- Can anyone shed some light on this strange problem?
-
- (for all I know, it might not have anything to do with the kernel - it could
- be init or something, though I rather doubt it)
