Gurus.
I issued a plea a few days ago about getting X running on a Trident 8900 card. Many kind people replied and I followed their advice but I am still unable to get it to run. The following is a transcript of the attempt to run X via startx.
Can anyone spot anything obvious which may point to the fact that I have not configured it correctly? I am hoping that it is I at fault rather than the card not being able to cope. :-(
On boot up the video card professes to be a Trident 8900C, is the message below about the chipset version significant? I get about half a dozen mode options when Linux first boots.

If the Trident is not going to do the job in colour can it do it in mono?
I also have an Orchid Farenhite 1280 direct bus video card with 1Mb ram, is there any hope of useing this. (Please say yes someone!)
If neither of these work then I will just have to wait for X. :-((
