  12. Im getting a new Western Digital IDE drive for my 386/20. I have decided that
  13. I want to partition the 210Mb in a more-or-less traditional form (with the
  14. exception of DOS).
  15. I want to create a bootable DOS partition of about 25-35 Mb for stuff my wife
  16. won't let go of. The rest of the disk is open for Linux.
  17. I want to put root in it's own partition so that I won't screw it up if I goof
  18. somthing up in one of my programs. I assume that this will be just bigenough
  19. to hold the kernel and some root level stuff like /lib and /etc... Is this
  20. correct? Does anyone know just how big this should be for 0.98pl3?
  21. I wanted to set my /swap (b partition) to at least 2x my memory size of 4mb.
  22. This would be 8mb but I might go larger because I develope image processing
  23. software with large image data and I also play around with large multi-
  24. precision math packages to play around with large prime numbers and such. I
  25. plan on having several background jobs running at all times in addition to the
  26. image processing software.
  27. I was told that partiton c is the entire disk. Is there any problems with 
  28. overlapping partitions?
  29. /tmp will be small I guess and /usr will be where the user accounts and space
  30. goes, right???
  31. My question is: How large should / be? How about /tmp? I know about /swap and
  32. /usr will be all that's left over from the rest. But / and /tmp I don't know
  33. how to size these. Any help would be appreciated.
