  22. In response to the numerous postings that continually ask questions covered
  23. in the FAQ for this group, I'm going to post this article to reiterate where
  24. new readers and users of Linux can find the FAQ. I will post it for a while.
  25. It suppliments the Meta-FAQ. :)

  27. PLEASE: EVERYONE read the FAQ for this group before posting questions. Many 
  28. people (myself included) worked hard to produce the FAQ to accurately answer 
  29. all of your questions. The new version of the FAQ (with many updates, 
  30. clarifications, etc.) will only come out every month! So you won't see it 
  31. posted that often. In the meantime you'll have to get it in one of the
  32. following ways:

  34. 1)  ftp to tsx-11.mit.edu. It's the file /pub/linux/FAQ. It's one big
  35.     ASCII file (about 150k). 
  36. or  ftp to sunsite.unc.edu. It's the file /pub/Linux/docs/FAQ. Again, one
  37.     big ASCII file, same thing as on tsx-11.mit.edu.

  39. 2)  If you don't have FTP access, you can retrieve it via the mailserver at
  40.     pit-manager.mit.edu. Send mail to mail-server@pit-manager.mit.edu with the
  41.     word "help" in the body.
  42. or  If you simply can't find the FAQ, I will mail it to you myself. Just
  43.     send me mail (mdw@tc.cornell.edu).

  45. 3)  The most recent FAQ will be posted to comp.os.linux and news.answers
  46.     every month (if you want to wait...).
