- For all of you who have been having problems with GNU Emacs under
- Linux 0.98 patchlevel 4, I have uploaded GNU Emacs 18.59 to sunsite
- in the incoming directory.
-
- The files are:
-
- * emacs-18.59a.tar.Z README, patches, and Linux support files
- * emacs-etc-18.59a.tar.Z GNU Emacs support binaries and files
- * emacs-bin-18.59a.tar.Z text-based GNU Emacs binary and its DOC file
- * x11emacs-bin-18.59a.tar.Z X11-based GNU Emacs binary and its DOC file
-
- The new features are:
-
- * version 18.59 of GNU Emacs instead of 18.58
- * works correctly with Linux 0.98 patchlevel 4
- * maximimum filesize increased from 8 to 32 Megabytes
-
- I will upload the 18.59 lisp and info directories when I get a chance
- as well as uploading everything to tsx-11 and nic. If you want to
- compile it yourself, just grab emacs-18.59.tar.Z from prep or other
- GNU site and apply the patches in emacs-18.59a.tar.Z and then follow
- the INSTALL guide.
