  24. I got exactly the same behaviour with xdm. I've tried to get xdm working
  25. every time a post with new hints came up, but without success.
  26. I  wrote out some error messages  on disk from Xstartup_0, 
  27. Xsession etc.  and I found that xdm starts Xstartup (here I got an
  28. error message) but *not* Xsession, which should start at least a xterm.
