- I have a new Logitech Mouseman, and I'm trying to get it to work
- with X (Trying to get X to work w/ my Genoa 7800 card, but that's
- another story!).
-
- When I boot, it says a busmouse is detected. /dev/mouse has major 10,
- minor 0.
-
- So I try the test from /usr/X386/lib/X11/tst/mouse with the following
- results:
-
- $ mouse Logitech /dev/mouse
- You are testing Logitech on /dev/mouse
- general protection: 0000
- EIP 0008:0000d806
- Eflags: 0001D086
- fs: 0017
- base: C0000000, limit: 000A0000
- Pid: 0, process nr: 0
- 8b 5b 04 8b 1b 85 d2 74 37 83
- task[0] (swapper) killed: unable to recover
- Kernel panic: trying to free up swapper memory space
- In swapper task - not syncing
-
- Of course at this point, the system is locked and the reset button must
- be pushed to get it to reboot.
-
- Now the way I look at it, /dev/mouse should be readable as any normal
- file, so that
- cat </dev/mouse >droppings &
- tail -f droppings
-
- should give some response when the mouse is moved. Perhaps unintellible
- response, but something! It doesn't, needless to say. What am I missing?
-
- Any ideas about how to test my busmouse (which works fine under DOS, may it
- rest in pieces) ?
