- Hi. I recently purchased a 486DX33 and want to run Linux on a 50 meg parition.
- My problem is that after loading Linux from the latest SLS disks (.98pl1, I
- ftp'ed them 3 days ago) I get "CMOS checksum bad" errors after every reboot.
- Usually the portion of CMOS that gets trashed is the Hard Drive information!
-
- I've spoken with one other person who had the exact same problem, but he
- unfortunately doesn't have news posting capabilties. His address is:
- jerry_kaidor@engtwomac.synoptics.com
- I think we both have the same motherboard. My system setup is as follows:
-
- 486DX33 Local Bus (with manual calling it a G486US)
- 4 mb ram
- 64k CPU cache
- Local Bus T4000 video board with Sierra RamDac and 1mb ram
- Maxtor 7120A 120meg IDE hd
- 1 5 1/4" floppy
- 1 3 1/2" floppy
-
- Has anyone else had a problem like this? I'd really like to run Linux,
- and did have it running well on my Dell 320N+ (386 laptop) for about a
- month, so I'm pretty sure I set it up correctly.
-
- Please reply by email, this newsgroup is impossible to keep up with! Thanks
- in advance,
-
