- HaHa! I've been faithfully collecting the linux source and gcc
- upgrades since about 0.12, and once a month or so recompiling to
- whatever is the latest. Today I grabbed linux-0.98.3.tar.Z,
- added Linus's wee patches from his news posting, and compiled.
- Everything compiled like a charm, and I switched my Image file
- in /etc and rebooted. Now I can no longer use any of my
- virtual consoles to log in as root! ALT-F1 through ALT-f8 all
- give me the login prompt, but when I try to log in as root, I
- am told I "can't log in as root at this console". Of course
- I can't put my old Image back, because I don't have root permission.
-
- Wassup?

- I haven't made boot diskettes for some time, but maybe I can find
- an old one here that will let me in as root ....

- Tim.
