- I have for some time been running linux 0.98, that compiled with no
- problems, and have been running with no problems. Recently I got
- version 0.98 pl 3. This compiles with no problems, boots ok, and I
- can login. But then the problems starts. (BTW I always run as root,
- so I do not understand how this should be a protection problem).
-
- - ls reports nothing, just a new prompt. ls redirected to a file
- just gives a blank file. dir the same. ls -l reports total 0.
- But the files are still there. I can run programs, I can read
- and write files, change directory, and so on, AS LONG as I remember
- the exact file name.
- - When running mtools I get "shell-init: getwd: cannot access parent
- directories". But mtools still works.
- I get the same message if I log in as non-root user.
- - df is ok, but reports the two non-\ partitions three times.
- du always reports 1, for any directory.
- - If I boot v 0.98 pl 0 everything is ok again, and ls reports as
- always before.
-
- Any hints on what I should do? Not unix guru.
