  16.     The new release of the extended file system programs (efsck and
  17. mkefs) is available by ftp on ftp-masi.ibp.fr:/pub/linux/ALPHA/extfs and
  18. should be available soon on tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/ALPHA/extfs.

  20.     The changes in this new version (alpha 9) are :
  21.     - mkefs no longer restricts the -i option to 4kb,
  22.     - mkefs can figure the file system size (the size argument is
  23.       now optional), Thanks to Adam Richter <adam@soda.berkeley.edu>
  24.     - efsck returns a status code (0 if no changes, 1 if the file system
  25.       was changed),
  26.     - efsck tries to correct bad directory entries by truncating the
  27.       directories.

  29.     This new release is available in different forms :
  30.     - a patch from version alpha 8 to alpha 9 (efsprogs.p9.Z),
  31.     - the full source and binary programs (efsprogs9.tar.Z),
  32.     - the source programs only (efsprogs9.src.tar.Z),
  33.     - the binary programs only (efsprogs9.bin.tar.Z).

  35.     I hope that this new release will help in case of bad directory
  36. entries.  I'd like people who have bad directories on an extended file system
  37. to contact me before running this new version of efsck.  There is perhaps a
  38. bug in the ext fs directory handking routines and I need some dumps from the
  39. bad directories to check it.
