- A few days ago I posted the following questions:
-
- >Can I mount a XENIX filesystem under Linux ?
- >Do XENIX binaries run under Linux ?
-
- Thanks to everybody for the speedy replies. The answer seems to
- be as follows (summarized):
-
- There is a XENIX filesystem patch available in
- tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/patches/xenixfs.patch
- I had no time yet to try it, but it says it can handle existing
- XENIX-partitions (created by XENIX mkfs, divvy ...), which is
- exactly what I was looking for. Great job !
-
- Due to the different system calls (what about X/Open, POSIX, SysV..?)
- XENIX executables do NOT run under Linux. However, there is an ALPHA
- release of a XENIX emulator in tsx-11:/pub/linux/ALPHA/xenix, but it
- says that it isn't all too stable yet.
-
- Well, that's it, I think. Let me say again that I am very impressed
- by the efficiency, friendliness and speed of the distributed development
- and support in the internet community.
-
- Best regards
