- Kind of set/showed the direction the whole conference was turning to:
- commercialize as much as possible.

- The vendors were pretty excited or you? 8=) I found it kind of interesting
- to see stuff `sailing' under the OO flag that actually one might not have
- thought of being OO at all (to put it in a discret wording).
-
- >Down points:

-
- There were some interesting papers (let's say 50% of them were), the panels
- served to some extent as an advertising platform for various people, the most
- interesting event was the poster session.
-
- The conference should have concentrated more on the advancement of OOPSLA than
- on advancement of the people selling.
-
- Also, the organisation was suboptimal:
-
- (1) NO Internet access or even Email --- "even" the EUUG in Hungary
- last fall provided email access and that was in a former eastern
- block state ...
-
- (2) The two halls the paper presentation and the panels were
- taking place in might be adequate for serving as a gym or for car
- shows but not for a conference were one would like to see the
- speakers and their presentations ...
-
- (3) Sure, the food at the receptions was really good, but how about
- having lunch included and a scaled down version of the receptions?
-
-
- (4) The Coffee/Tea/Soda breaks should really be what they claim to be,
- serving the coffee/tea/sodas for 2000 people at some few tables
- inside the exhibitors hall (down the hallway) clearly doesn't do
- the trick --- which perhaps was grasped as the coffee at least was
- served outside the conference halls on the last day.
-
- Just my 2 cents worth of comment ...
