- TOPIC: Multimedia In Education
-
- Two fascinating programs will be presented at the November 10 IICS
- meeting at Annenberg Auditorium, Stanford University: Myron Puckett
- from Decision Development Corp. in San Ramon will demonstrate
- Science 2000, an interactive, multimedia educational program
- designed to teach science to middle school students. With a mouse,
- students can point and click to pull up any one of a number of
- databases or video images from the laserdisc. Science 2000 made
- histroy recently when the California State Board of Education voted
- to allow schools to spend their textbook funds for the
- "non-textbook" program.
-
- Lisa Paul from Wings for Learning/Sunburst in Scotts Valley will
- show Voices of the 30's, which brings accounts of the historical
- events and social issues of the 1930's to life by linking and
- indexing the images, sounds, and text in a CD-ROM format for middle
- and high school students. Teachers can use Voices of the 30's to
- plan lessons or classroom presentations; it also acts as a catalyst
- for small group discussions or a hands-on resource center. This
- should be a meeting well worth attending!
