  17. I am trying to set up a UUCP connection between an off-campus (SCO 3.2.2)
  18. and an on-campus (Sun 4.1.1) machine. The off-campus machine uses 2400
  19. baud modem to dial-in and access an on-campus terminal server through
  20. which it then connects to the destination on-campus machine.

  22. Problem: The off-campus machine successfully connects to the on-campus
  23. machine and the data transfer starts but soon after that the connection
  24. breaks because the on-campus machine does not seem to respond any more.
  25. The UUCP diagnostic shows alarm messages ...

  27. The problem seems to be in the terminal server (it filters or misinterprets
  28. characters instead of passing them through). I tried to turn off the server
  29. XON/XOFF protocol and switch characters but with no success.
  30. (I used SET SESSION PASSALL among other server commands.) The server is Vista
  31. (I think), and emulates DEC server commands.  It reports VCP-1000 when I say
  32. SHOW SERVER.  The off-campus machine has no problems connecting to other UUCP
  33. sites (not involving problematic server).

  35. A strange thing is that C-kermit works fine transferring binary files 
  36. over the same connection between the two machines. (This does not agree
  37. with the above character eating theory.)

  39. Has anyone out there had success in setting up UUCP connection over servers ?
  40. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions ...
