- Hello,
-
- I am trying to set up a UUCP connection between an off-campus (SCO 3.2.2)
- and an on-campus (Sun 4.1.1) machine. The off-campus machine uses 2400
- baud modem to dial-in and access an on-campus terminal server through
- which it then connects to the destination on-campus machine.
-
- Problem: The off-campus machine successfully connects to the on-campus
- machine and the data transfer starts but soon after that the connection
- breaks because the on-campus machine does not seem to respond any more.
- The UUCP diagnostic shows alarm messages ...
-
- The problem seems to be in the terminal server (it filters or misinterprets
- characters instead of passing them through). I tried to turn off the server
- XON/XOFF protocol and switch characters but with no success.
- (I used SET SESSION PASSALL among other server commands.) The server is Vista
- (I think), and emulates DEC server commands. It reports VCP-1000 when I say
- SHOW SERVER. The off-campus machine has no problems connecting to other UUCP
- sites (not involving problematic server).
-
- A strange thing is that C-kermit works fine transferring binary files
- over the same connection between the two machines. (This does not agree
- with the above character eating theory.)
-
- Has anyone out there had success in setting up UUCP connection over servers ?
- I would appreciate any comments or suggestions ...
-
- Thanks in advance
