- After applying patch levels 4 through 8 to ELM 2.4 today on our Sun
- 4.470, SunOS 4.1.2, some users began getting this error on trying to
- enter their primary Elm mailbox:
-
-
- Reading in /var/spool/mail/<username-deleted>, message: 328
- newmbox - length of mbox. != spool mailbox length!!
-
- Write to temp file failed, exiting leaving mailbox intact!
-
-
- This does not happen with other folders, and not to everybody.
-
- I had to rush to the back tapes and restore my old executables for
- 2.4PL3 to avoid being lynched. Since I applied patches 4 through 8 at
- the same time (in order), I don't know which one had the bug, though
- I'll go back and see which ones might be candidates. Has anybody else
- encountered this? What gives? After the restore I did run both
- versions to confirm that only the PL8 version gave the error, not PL3.
-
- Thanks in advance
