  14.   Could someone tell me :
  15.     1) What is the role played by the lock file 
  16.        created when starting elm in "/usr/spool/mail" directory.?
  17.  
  18.     2) Why create it only in mail spool directory.?
  19.  
  20.     3) Would there be any problem if it gets created under home or 
  21.        any user specified directory ?.   
  22.  
  23. Reason for me to ask these questions:
  24.      What happens if /usr/spool/mail directory has write permission 
  25.     for the "world" and elm with lock option compiled defined does 
  26.     not execute. It simply exits with the message:
  27.         "Can't create lock file! Need write permission in 
  28.         "/usr/spool/mail/" permissions on /usr/spool/mail".

  30. My Environment: ELM 2.4(PL6) on SUN 3/80 over NFS network.
  31.  
  32. Currently I am using elm after compiling with "dotlock" option "undef"ed.
  33. However, I would very much like to use ELM with lock file option
  34. "define"d.
