- In response to the e-mail I have received asking me how to have
- your e-mail messages always include your signature file, here goes ...
-
- Use a text editor to edit the file .elm/elmrc (that is, the file
- entitled elmrc, which is in the directory .elm, which is in your home
- directory [though I can't see it when I list the files in my $HOME
- directory). Edit .elm/elmrc so that the following lines are appended
- thusly:
-
- The line which sez "localsignature =";
-
- and the one which sez "remote signature =":
-
- put the name of the file you want to have as your signature after the =.
- When I go to type in my mail, (on v.i.) the signature file is already
- incuded. There might be two dashes on a line by themselves just above
- the sig file, depending on whether the line
-
- dashes = (I think)
-
- has ON or OFF after it. I'm not sure, but I think maybe the file has to
- be a max. of 4 lines.
- As to the matter of reading files into a text file you're
- editing with vi, just type
-
- :r <filename>
-
- in command mode. Don't put in those <>'s; just put the file's name
- after the :r.
