  13. The "Standards for Groupware" birds-of-a-feather session at CSCW92
  14. comprised a discussion of the potential for groupware standards
  15. and related standards activities, such as OSF/GAIA.
  16. The concensus was that we need to establish an ongoing working group
  17. to monitor standards activities and generate standards input.
  18.  
  19. One outcome of the meeting was the need to compile 
  20. a survey of standards relevant to groupware. 
  21. Robert Watson (@DTI in UK) has a draft survey which I will be 
  22. distributing in hardcopy, and he would like to see the 
  23. following information contributed to the survey 
  24. from each interested organization:
  25.  
  26. "It would be very useful to have a one/two page position document from each
  27. member. Would you care to provide a format/outline which we could all use.
  28. Information on current work/ use of standards, problems encounted and the
  29. area/direction of possible solutions. A membership list of standard bodies
  30. you attend/associated with. Possible reference material or at least 
  31. notification that you have access to one. Other information which we 
  32. would find helpful."

  44. Also, we discussed the potential use of the OMG-X/Open CORBA standard
  45. for defining groupware standards across languages and operating systems.
