- Sorry about the 2 previous tests, I've been trying to post this
- for 2 days now and my news reader has been giving me problems.
- Anyway with that out of the way, on to the original post:
-
- Hello world,
-
- My name is Forrest Houston and I some questions that I would
- liked answered from anyone involved with scientific visualization.
- Right now I am a senior in CS and I'm trying to decide what
- to do. I am really interested in pursuing a carreer in
- scientific visualization, but I am unsure of what the best next
- step would be. My options seem to be; continue on in a Masters
- program for CS, switch to the design department of our school
- and pursue a Masters of Graphic Design (dealing mainly with end
- use of computer graphics instead of developing them), or the
- technical college in the area is thinking about starting a 2
- year certification course in scientific visualization. What I
- would like to know from people already in the field:
-
- - What sort of organizations are involved with sv, is it mainly
- research firms, colleges, or companies?
-
- - In regards to these organizations, what sort of experience or
- background are they looking for to fill positions in sv?
-
- - Are there concentrations in sv, or is it the sort of field
- where you have to know a little of everything (biology,
- mechanics, physics, botany, etc..)?
-
- - Are there any professional societies or journals related to
- sv and if so how do I get in contact with them?
-
- The list goes on and on, but this is enough to get me going in the
- right direction (I hope). Please email all responses to me at:
-
- ffhoust@eos.ncsu.edu
-
- as I don't want to waste news bandwidth on responses to this.
- Thanks in advance.
-
- Forrest
