- Here's some amusement: get calc.el running on your pee-cee under
- demacs. It surprising went fairly well. You have to change all the
- filenames to 8.3, don't forget all their references in the elisp code.
- I found changing calc- to c- sufficed. Byte compiling everything
- takes some time.
-
- Time test: On a Sun Sparc 2, 32 MB memory, calculating pi to 150
- places took 20 seconds. On a 33 MHz '486, 4 MB memory, DOS 5.0, it
- took 30 seconds. Not bad, eh?
-
- BTW, demacs works fine running with the Thompson Toolkit (nee
- Polyshell), a Unix-like shell for the PC. With the TT, you can do
- filename completion (with the TAB key!) from the command line,
- backquotes, cd'ing with forward slashes, etc. At times, you can
- almost pretend you're running a real machine.
