  16. i've lately been plagued with the following situation: i'm trucking
  17. right along in an emacs-buffer (editing, shell, gnus, etc.), and
  18. suddenly, when i try to do C-p or C-n, i get a beep and the minibuffer
  19. reads something like "nesting exceeds max-lisp-eval-depth"...nothing i
  20. do can clear this up, i can't re-assign a larger value to the variable, 
  21. all i can do at this point to get things working again is to kill the
  22. current emacs, and start a fresh one...

  24. Whatinhell's going on?  i've tried turning on "debug-on-error", and
  25. can't get anything intelligible from the result (also can't stick the
  26. output into a register and then dump it into a file to be saved...none
  27. of those C- keys work either, same error).

  29. i have to admit, none of this ever happened before i added explicit
  30. loads of "x-sb-mouse", the expanded "dired", and "ange-ftp" into my
  31. .emacs...
  32.
