- As I understand it, the protocol still remains in the public domain, but
- the _implementations_ of it produced later by Chuck are proprietary. Am I
- right and just making a picky little distinction, or is the protocol itself
- now proprietary?
- In any event, from what I understand, old protocol implementations will
- still work with new ones, they just don't have all the bang-for-the-buck
- that the newer stuff does.
