- You can configure them to communicate across leased lines. The modem
- setup is pretty simple. Set the modulation type with S50, the RS232
- port speed with S51, the flow control type with S58/S68. For uucp
- use to another T2500, you'd probably want S50=255 S51=5 S58=2 S111=30.
- (maybe S58=0 if they're not used for anything else but uucp)
-
- Then set one of the modems with S7=255 S101=1, and the other with
- S7=255 S101=2.
-
- The S101 register setting will make the modems automatically connect
- through the phone line without dialing or waiting for a ring signal.
-
- IMPORTANT: The leased phone line MUST be a 2-wire, analog line.
- Some phone companies will refer to the line as a "9600 baud"
- line. Some might even tell you it won't work unless it's
- a 4-wire line. That's not true for the T2500. It works
- fine over dialup lines, which are 2-wire circuits, it
- will work just as well over a 2-wire leased line. (No
- you can't buy a 4-wire line and run two modem links
- across it - the wiring doesn't work that way except in
- very special situations.
-
- Sometimes you need to have the modems transmit a louder signal than
- you need for dialup lines. The T2500 has a socketed resistor you can
- change to adjust the output level. See Appendix F of the reference
- manual for resistor values.
