- I've recently been given the task of determining which vendor we should
- select for upgrading our modem pool. Of course, the first things I'm
- doing is asking for the collective wisdom of the net to provide some
- suggestions.
-
- Basic desires include:
-
- A modem pool of about 64 v.32bis modems.
- Remote management of pool.
- Automatic monitoring and corrective action capability (mark dead
- modems as offline)
-
- Really nice to have features:
-
- Outbound number logging.
- Usage statistics.
- Pool management (14 modems locked in 2400 mode, remainder in full v.32bis
- mode - electronically reconfigurable)
-
- Vendors I'm planning on contacting:
-
- Microcom
- Hayes
- Multi-Tech
- US Robotics
-
- All suggestions and comments are welcome. (Even saleperson calls!>
