  15. after reading all messages related to SSCOP, i noticed that also
  16. others suspected if there is sense in the current SSCOP proposal.
  17.  
  18. we have two options:
  19.  
  20. 1. fix SSCOP to become a real transport protocol (hopefully the same
  21. as being worked in ISO)
  22.  
  23. 2. make whatever changes are needed to an existing transport protocol
  24. (eg. TCP) to satisfy the requirements of ATM (signalling)
  25.  
  26. the worst option would be to define yet another transport protocol
  27. which could only be used at the link layer.
  28.  
  29. my understanding, however, is that SSCOP has been advanced quite far
  30. in ANSI, so people must react soon.  in the last ETSI meeting, SSCOP
  31. didn't get much support and i hope the same will happen in the next
  32. CCITT meeting.
