  18. My Testing and Evaluation team is planning to do some serious testing on
  19. the following software design and implementation products:
  20.  
  21.     * Design and functional specifications
  22.     * HyperCard high-level interface script code
  23.     * ORACLE Access database command code (on ORACLE v2.0)
  24.       (this is a new replacement of Hyper*SQL on ORACLE v1.1.1)
  25.  
  26. For those still unfamiliar with the kind of programming environment in which 
  27. we are working, we are writing a database application on ORACLE for the
  28. Macintosh, using the HyperTalk script language as the interface to ORACLE
  29. Access, an internal interface language between HyperTalk and SQL (most likely
  30. invoked using the "execsql" command, if I'm not wrong).

  32. I wonder if there are any particular commercial testing tools suitable for
  33. our needs, or otherwise simple, ftp'able shareware tools.  Some of the
  34. automated products we'd like to try to aid us in our excruciating tasks are:
  35.  
  36.     * capture/replay tool (something better than MacroMaker?)
  37.     * automatic flowgraph generator and analyzer
  38.       (to check control- and data-flow diagrams)    
  39.     * automatic/random data generator
  40.     * coverage certifier/monitor
  41.      * finite state machine (FSM) test tool
  42.     * any test design automation tool, functional generator, etc.
  43.     * general report generator
  44.       (though we can live with FileMaker Pro to produce, say, bug reports)
  45.  
  46. Notice that the tools above must be compatible with the programming 
  47. environment described above.  I have also heard of integrated testing
  48. tools out there in the market, which is perfectly acceptable.
  49.  
  50. I appreciate any references or direct contacts to order some of the
  51. tools desribed above.  At least the quality of such tools have to be
  52. "decent" by software standards.
