- In our experience on 45 80386 computers Paradox 4.0 is much slower than 3.5
- with 2MB RAM. Borland techsupport now says 4 MB minimum, and I noticed the
- new ads don't say 2 MB recommended. On most 4 MB computers 4.0 is somewhat
- slower than 3.5. The codepool option can get some of the speed back.
- On all our 8 MB machines 4.0 is faster than 3.5, though nowhere near 10 times
- as fast for anything we do. All the above is true even after converting all
- DBs to 4.0 format. Memo fields are nice and so are the secondary indexes,
- but unless you have lots of RAM, don't buy 4.0 for speed.
