  14.             * UNIX DATABASE SURVEY *

  16. My company maintains serveral large UNIFY databases.
  17. As such, the database product we use must allow
  18. for such sizes without too many negative side effects.
  19.  
  20.     Many if not all of the UNIX-BASED Database
  21.     products we've looked at claim that their development is
  22.     geared toward large databases, BUT how large is LARGE.
  23.  
  24. In an effort to determine a current WORKING DEFINITION of LARGE,
  25. I'm collecting info on currently running large databases
  26. that are AT LEAST 800 MegaBytes in size. This definition pertains
  27. strictly to the actual size of the database file alone IN BYTES
  28. {not indexes}.
  29.  
  30. TO PARTICIPATE:
  31. fire-off a one line mailer consisting of the following:

  35. MULTI-VOLUME
  36. Please indicate if you are utilizing multi-volume distribution on
  37. several disks by adding up the volumes and appending [MV::n]
  38. where n == the number of volumes, to the end of the mailer line above.
