  21. V92-029 of "edict" is now available on pub/nihongo on 
  22. monu6.cc.monash.edu.au for collection. Use ftp or ftpmail to 
  23. collect copies. As usual, it is there in plain text (edict),
  24. compressed (edict.Z) and compressed and indexed for jdic/
  25. jreader usage (edict.zoo).

  28. Japanese-English dictionary file which I started to develop
  29. about 18 months ago. Read the full details in "edict.doc"]

  31. V29 is about 2000 entries larger than V28. This is due
  32. to hard work by a number of contributors (Scott Trent &
  33. his wife Nobuko, Theresa Martin, ....). My friend and
  34. colleague Harold Rowe put in 1500+ entries, thus finishing
  35. the conversion of the "jddict" file into English.

  37. I would like to think that edict is approaching completion,
  38. but then I thought that when it was only 8,000 entries. I
  39. notice that when using it to help read fj.* news, it is rare
  40. to encounter a compound which is not already there. The DOS
  41. version of the file is approaching 1.2Mb, and I will have to
  42. recompile jdic & jreader if it reaches 1.5M.
